Sales negotiation
A seller avoids sitting frontally opposite the buyer, which would heighten the power struggle. He chooses a slight angle, placing himself almost on the same side of the problem ("let us find the right solution together"). The negotiation becomes more collaborative.
Prefer an open angle or a side-by-side position to signal "us against the problem" rather than "me against you".
Softens the power struggle; establishes a climate of joint problem-solving.
An overly pronounced angle may seem evasive or shifty; some buyers expect a straightforward face-to-face.
